Make the Most of Your "Fifth Wall"
The 5th wall in your space ~ the ceiling ~ is often an after thought or just automatically done in a traditional flat white or neutral. Neutrals and lighter colors can work well in small spaces to make them feel larger while darker colors on a high ceiling can make the room feel cozier. Lighter colors with a flat finish are great at hiding defects while colors, patterns and sheens can make your ceiling a focal point.

Venetian Plaster
Contrasts
The gold color on the recessed part of this coffered ceiling matches the wallcoverings but the continuity is broken up by the white on the beams to give to dramatically bring out the 3 dimensional aspect of the ceiling in Fort Washington
Crown Mouldings
Crown Mouldings can be used to create an elegant break between the ceiling and walls, especially if the walls and ceiling have the same of similar finish. We used high gloss Fine Paints of Europe on this townhome restoration
Natural Wood
Using wood on a ceiling can bring a warm and peaceful feeling to a room. Special finishes such as reactive stains, pickling or bleaching can bring out the grain and give a room like thus in Fort Washington to give it an almost ethereal glow
Exposed Beams
Exposed beams are another classic feature that brings warmth to your room and interest to your ceiling. A custom stain on the beams can really make them stand out. Our client on Skippack called these spectacular!
